I had a friend share this with me. I liked it so much, I thought I would share here for whoever needs this…
“Sometimes another person’s shadow falls across you, even though you are standing in the light.
We are often taught to judge people by the company they keep. There is wisdom in this stream of thought but sometimes it is not always true. In professional life, we sometimes place our trust in people whose values we believe align with our own, only to discover that their compass points in a different direction.
Good people can unknowingly find themselves in bad company. And when that happens, the consequences do not always fall neatly where they belong. Reputation, like a shadow, can extend beyond the person who created it.
All this to say, from a distance, the two may appear inseparable but the shadow tells us more about what stands between the light and the ground than it does about the person the shadow falls across on.”
